We all know the one thing that Vegas is famous for….a quick marriage. In fact, Las Vegas is considered the Marriage Capital of the World. There are a lot of famous marriages that were made in Vegas….Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra, Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow, and Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie just to name a few. Don’t forget Brittany Spears and her 55 hour long marriage that started at the Little White Wedding Chapel of Las Vegas.
Weddings in Vegas vary from cheesy to chic and fall into any price range you can imagine. Of course, you will have to pay the $77 license fee for the State but with no waiting period and no blood tests, it’s easy to be on your way to everlasting marital bliss. The cheapest place to tie the knot is around $49 but if you are a high roller, Vegas has no boundaries on what one can spend to exchange nuptials. If you are in a hurry there is a drive thru wedding chapel too.
Don’t be surprised then that me and the Mr. decided to renew our vows on our anniversary last year. Of course, we went full blown cheesy with the vows exchanged at Graceland Wedding Chapel by none other than Elvis himself! It turns out he never left the building after all. The Mr. even pulled out his Arnold Schwarzenegger impression. I almost peed my panties the whole way through. What a nut.
On the chic side, I did get to enjoy watching my best friend get married last year to her soulmate at the Stratosphere Wedding Chapel. Incredible views, tasteful decor, and excellent service was the theme of the evening. No blue suede shoes needed.
So the next time you hear someone is getting hitched in Vegas, don’t be a hound dog and just remember some people just can’t help falling in love. Let’s just hope they don’t check in to the Heartbreak Hotel.
