My husband is an avid biker…or at least he would like to be an avid biker. He, like me, has let the pounds creep up on him. Anyway, he has a road bike and a mountain bike that are taking up space in the garage. We live in the hills on the outskirts of Las Vegas and the thought of either of us getting on a bike in these hills elicits fear of exploding cardiac tissue and overall mayhem.
At a dinner party one evening, our neighbors shared that they had recently bought E-Bikes. I never really knew or at least paid attention that these existed. The very next day, we moseyed on down to McGhie’s in Henderson and checked out the different types of e-bikes they have in stock. We had a great experience and now are the proud parents of two new e-bikes!
What an easy way to get back in the swing of things! The bike doesn’t do all the work though. The E-bikes that we purchased have Pedal Assist, which means you actually have to pedal to get any help. Very quickly, my husband and I have hit the road on these bikes and racked up over 100 miles of riding in three weeks.
I highly recommend trying an e-bike or renting one if you would like to ride but are worried that you will get stranded due to being exercise intolerant. Many places rent these bikes and even some hotels have them available for use. One near me, The Westin at Lake Las Vegas, is one.
Of course, it’s Las Vegas and you know it gets hot here….at least that is what all of our Facebook friends told us when we announced our move. They must all think we fell off the turnip truck or something!
